Update 20 March 2020

What a week.  Our thoughts and support are with our members and the family of our staff, who have had more than just a tough week with businesses, employment and lives devastatingly impacted by what is happening.

We are fortunate we are still able to remain open so you can continue to enjoy the many health benefits of regular exercise. The Australian Government's Department of Health has stated that “gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools do not need to close at this time. However, they must follow social distancing advice and have good cleaning routines in place”.

Our response:

Social distancing advice is being respected and numbers have been capped in all of our Group Studios.

Group Exercise Studio:
35-participant capacity: there are 35 blue ‘X’ floor marks. Please stand or set up for class on a floor mark.

Reformer Studio:
22-participant capacity: please follow usual ticketing system.

RPM Studio:
11-participant capacity: we appreciate our RPM enthusiasts have been hit the hardest. We will be emailing this weekend with a strategy on how we will manage this moving forward.

Cardio Room:
We have spaced our cardio equipment to ensure the recommended social distancing.

All other gym areas:
We are lucky to have a large, open and airy gym. We ask all members and staff to observe social distancing.

Our cleaning routines:
We have always been a super clean gym. However, this week we have put in place every measure we can to ensure Workout keeps our promise of a healthy, hygienic and clean exercise environment. We will continue to be diligent and review our measures daily. You may not know, but a professional cleaning crew cleans Workout Indooroopilly every night and has done so for decades since my Mum & Dad stopped doing it themselves in the late eighties.

Moving forward we will continue to keep you up to date by email, a designated website page, social media (Instagram and Facebook) and in-house televisions and signage.

Before I go, I want to say a big thank you to our amazing staff family. Without their help, support and absolute enthusiasm in serving you - our wonderful members (and your children) - none of what we do would be possible. We promise to look after our staff no matter what.

We also want to say a big thank you to you for showing us your support and for keeping your exercise routine going.

Happy weekend everyone… take care and see you soon.

Update 15 March 2020

We understand there is growing and significant concern within the community concerning the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The health of our members is our priority, as is helping our members feel comfortable continuing their health and fitness routine during this time.

We are forming and fine-tuning our responsive procedures upon the latest World Health Organisation and Queensland Health guidelines, and Australian Government recommendations. Assessing our protocols on a daily basis, we will keep your informed of any updates or changes. This week you will notice some changes in the club as we roll out these important procedures.

We believe it is super important that we all continue our healthy exercise habits so for now, we kindly ask you to:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (or by singing happy birthday twice!) when you arrive and during your workout as needed
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Place your towel on each machine you use and on your exercise mat; towels are compulsory in all exercise areas
  • Wipe equipment after use using Cleaning Stations provided
  • Practise respiratory hygiene and cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze; then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
  • Stay home if you are unwell, even with mild symptoms such as runny nose or headache
  • Wash your hands or use the hand sanitiser when you leave

Important:

  • If you have travelled to any international region self-quarantine for 14 days
  • If you have had ‘direct contact’  with an infected person self-quarantine for 14 days; direct contact is considered as face-to-face within 1.5 metres of the person infected, for longer than 15 minutes or in the same room/vicinity for 2 hours

We pride ourselves on keeping a clean and hygienic gym but extra vigilance is being applied to uphold these high standards by:

  • Minimising touch points where we can; you will notice doors have been removed or locked open
  • Regular disinfection control of common areas including handrails, doorknobs, exercise equipment, front desk and hand basin surfaces
  • Providing hand sanitiser at the front desk and in the all exercise areas
  • Ensuring our team will self-quarantine as per guidelines above and will not come in to work if unwell, even with mild symptoms such as runny nose or headache
  • Avoiding hand-shaking and high fives… but promising to show the Workout love in other creative ways
